align="left">Proibir drogas emagrecedoras, como quer a Anvisa,
levar� ao aumento no n�mero de cirurgias de redu��o do est�mago,
dizem m�dicos.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Com a poss�vel retirada desses
rem�dios do mercado, sobram poucas alternativas para tratar a
obesidade.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Em muitos casos, a �nica sa�da ser�
a cirurgia bari�trica, hoje indicada para pacientes com IMC
(�ndice de massa corporal) acima de 35 e doen�as associadas, como
diabetes e hipertens�o.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">J� est� em estudo nos EUA, na It�lia
e Espanha a redu��o do limite m�nimo de IMC para a indica��o da
opera��o.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">O cirurgi�o Ricardo Cohen,
presidente da Sociedade Brasileira de Cirurgia Bari�trica, est�
coordenando uma pesquisa no Hospital Oswaldo Cruz sobre a efic�cia
da opera��o em pessoas com IMC entre 30 e 35. O estudo tem
financiamento do Minist�rio da Sa�de.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Foram recrutados 105 volunt�rios,
que ser�o operados dentro de semanas. Para Cohen, o procedimento �
mais seguro do que as drogas. �Nunca se falou em retirar a
cirurgia do mercado. Isso prova sua seguran�a�, diz.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">A previs�o � que neste ano sejam
feitas 70 mil redu�es de est�mago no pa�s.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Para Alfredo Halpern,
endocrinologista do Hospital das Cl�nicas, o aumento das cirurgias
preocupa: �N�o � mais simples tomar rem�dio? Fa�o um paciente
perder 30 kg s� com medica��o�.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Estudos mostram que 16% das pessoas
que passam por redu��o do est�mago t�m alguma altera��o
neurol�gica, como perda de mem�ria ou confus�o mental, diz Eduardo
Mutarelli, neurologista do Hospital S�rio-Liban�s.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong>Onda de proibi��o</strong></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">A Anvisa estuda proibir a
sibutramina, droga que age no sistema nervoso central, desde o
in�cio de 2010.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Ontem, anunciou uma audi�ncia
p�blica para quarta, em que ser� apresentado um parecer pedindo a
proibi��o dos medicamentos com sibutramina e tr�s tipos de
anfetamina: anfepramona, femproporex e mazindol.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">A decis�o deve ser divulgada no dia
1� de mar�o.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">A Anvisa diz que a sibutramina tem
baixa efic�cia e eleva em 20% o risco card�aco. O parecer foi
embasado no estudo Scout, feito em 16 pa�ses, que saiu no �New
England Journal of Medicine�.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Na pesquisa, 10 mil obesos com mais
de 55 anos e hist�rico de doen�as card�acas tomaram sibutramina
por tr�s anos e quatro meses.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Segundo Walmir Coutinho, da
Sociedade Brasileira de Endocrinologia e Metabologia e um dos
autores do estudo, os resultados n�o justificam proibir a droga.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">O cardiologista Daniel Magnoni, do
HCor, diz que o problema � a vulgariza��o da droga. �Com uso
correto, as complica�es s�o menores.�</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">A �nica droga para obesidade fora da
mira da Anvisa � o Xenical (orlistate), que n�o � um inibidor de
apetite: diminui a absor��o de gordura.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">�S� isso n�o resolve. Uma pessoa com
compuls�o n�o vai ser curada�, diz Halpern.</p>
