<LI>Naegleria foloweri. </LI>
<LI>Acanthamoeba sp. </LI></UL>

</I><P>A <I>Enthamoeba histolytica </I>&eacute; um microparasita em seres humanos e vive no intestino, provocando diarr&eacute;ias, dores abdominais e diversos outros sintomas.</P>
<P>A <I>Naegleria foloweri </I>e a <I>Acanthamoeba sp.</I> s&atilde;o amebas de vida livre e que colonizam rios, especialmente onde a corrente &eacute; fraca ou as &aacute;guas s&atilde;o paradas. N&atilde;o s&atilde;o parasitas de seres humanos, mas se penetrarem no organismo e isso acontece pela mucosa ocular durante mergulhos em rios ou lagoas, ela ataca de destrui o sistema nervoso central, levando &agrave; morte em no m&aacute;ximo 72 horas.</P>
<P>Al&eacute;m da <I>Enthamoeba histolytica</I>, podem ser encontradas a <I>Enthamoeba coli</I> e o <I>Endolimax nana</I> (outra ameba da mesma fam&iacute;lia) no intestino humano, mas essas duas n&atilde;o causam doen&ccedil;as, s&atilde;o indicativos de m&aacute;s condi&ccedil;&otilde;es de higiene e habita&ccedil;&atilde;o e s&oacute; tem interesse no caso de uma defici&ecirc;ncia imunol&oacute;gica, quando elas passam a manifestar uma infec&ccedil;&atilde;o e at&eacute; podem levar o indiv&iacute;duo ao &oacute;bito.</P>
